Jonathan Smith passed away
27 06 10 - 15:44Just a few days ago there was a featured post about Special FX engine and it's creator. Unfortunately, there are really sad news about the creator.
Jonathan 'Joffa' Smith, also known as Frobush, was in hospital since end of the April, suffering from a very serious condition. It was initially reported that he is on the mend, however, he passed away yesterday, June 26, at age 43.
People refers to him as one of the most talented Spectrum programmers, childhood hero, source of inspiration, and simply great man. As game developer, he worked at Ocean, Special FX Software, Software Creations, and Rage, creating both code and graphics for his original games and ports for home computers and consoles. His works often were highly praised by game press and players. Besides of the game development, he was also known as DJ, script writer, and film maker.
