1tracker v0.16

29 June 2013 at 06:24 am, posted by
1tracker finally got an update.

Although it still looks the same, it got major changes on the script side, due to inclusion of built-in Z80 assembler written in AngelScript. This allows to add and change engines much easier, as engine modules now contain actual Z80 source code rather than precompiled binaries. On the downside, it made the editor much slower. It works with acceptable speed on modern PCs, though, and the speed could improve later. There are minor changes, including updating third party libraries to latest versions. Hopefully it'll improve editor's stability.

The most interesting part is, of course, new engines that has been added in this update. There are only two - the engine from Earth Shaker game (Michael Batty, 1990), and POWW (utz, 2013). Both are two channel engines, both has pretty unique sound. Special thanks goes to Oleg Origin for reverse engineering the Earth Shaker engine.
